Retirement Investing

Another way in which millions of people have investments in the stock market is through retirement plans.

The best known are the 401(k) and IRA, but others include the 403(b) (for public schools and certain non-profit organizations), 457(b) (for state and local government employees) and SEP (Simplified Employee Pension) for smaller organizations.

These are tax-deferred programs, meaning investments in these plans may be tax deductible and the tax paid at retirement, when the investor begins selling shares.

Investing for your retirement is one of the most important financial decisions you will make as an adult.
