Guaranteed Investment Contracts (sometimes called Guaranteed Investment Agreements) are an investment vehicle where the issuer (typically an insurance company) accepts funds in return for a guaranteed rate of return to the purchaser. The contract can vary by investment amount, rate of return, and duration (length of time before the investor receives their investment capital plus guaranteed interest).
